How To Fish the Gary Yamamoto Yamatanuki x BKK Titan Rider Hook Combo
The Yamatanuki is unique in both its design and composition, which is why it fishes so incredibly well year-round for largemouth and smallmouth bass!
With the Titan Rider and Yamatanuki combo, you’ll fish it almost like a flipping and pitching setup, with some slight variations. Start by casting into heavy cover. This might seem counterintuitive since there’s no weight on your line, but the Yamatanuki’s HSG formulation and sleek design allow it to drag itself through cover!
Let the setup sink completely, allowing your line to slacken. Every few seconds, lift your rod tip about 12-18 inches, giving it a “hopping” action. The Yamatanuki will then dance and shimmy back down to a resting position, this action is irresistible to fish hiding in cover.
A bite will feel like a hard THUD on your line. At this point, set the hook HARD and pull the fish to the surface as quickly as possible. This gets them out of the cover and avoids any potential snags. During the retrieve, maintain line tension all the way in and youve caught yourself a monster!
This combo is fun and easy to fish all day. Avoid casting in the same spot repeatedly and cover lots of water. If you do, you’ll see great success! Tight Lines!
