For conquering shallow surf, a new 120mm sinking pencil has been released from the Athlete series.
Athlete 12SSP was developed with a strong focus on the flat fish game from surfing, so the focus is very different from conventional sinking pencils, and it is designed with the center of gravity at the rear. The flying position does not waver when casting, and although the body size is 120 mm, the flying distance is comparable to that of a metal jig. Then, after landing on the water, you can free fall vertically from behind and immediately reach the bottom for swimming.
The action is a roll action that shakes the butt greatly during slow retrieval, and as the retrieve speed increases, it changes to a wobbling roll action. Because the center of gravity is rearward, the action is large and the pulling resistance is moderate, giving the impression that you are using a minnow rather than a sinking pencil.
