The Wildfish fly selection packs from JM Gillies are real eye catchers and sure fire winners for those new to fly fishing and even for some who might be not so new to the sport. There are nine packs (10 Feltys flies in each) in the range and these are divided into two groups, the Freshwater Trout packs and various Eastuary/Saltwater packs. The reality is that theres plenty of overlap. For example the Trout Streamer Pack would very easily be at home in the kit of a bass fisherman or in fact a fly fisherman just about anywhere around the country. Conversely the Bass Pack contains flies that are just as at home in many tropical freshwater systems right across the north and in the Billabong Pack are flies that would light up the eyes of a bass fisherman. Its a very versatile selection thats been put together by Peter Morse.

Match the hatch means using the fly that most closely imitates the bait the predatory fish are feeding on. Exact imitations are rarely necessary but this pack has many baitfish types covered, from small transparent minnows, right through to larger baits such as Anchovies and Pilchards. All of these flies are also excellent general imitators. In the water they just look like something a hungry predator is going to grab. If you need to get deeper, some, such as the Clousers, are weighted. You can fish these flies with confidence on anything, from all the Tuna species, to Salmon, Kingfish, Queenfish, and Mackerel. Use a variety of retrieves.
